Every day for more than 40 years, Southern Nuclear employees have been improving the lives of our neighbors in Alabama and Georgia. Meet one of our folks who’s dedicated to providing you with clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy.

Irimar Feliciano Bradl, mechanical engineering systems supervisor, Plant Vogtle

Nickname (if applicable): Iri

How long have you been with the company: Seven years.

What are your current job responsibilities? I lead a team of nine mechanical system engineers whose roles are improving plant health and equipment reliability, and preventing failures by trending and monitoring plant parameters. For the next six months I will be attending a senior reactor operator management certification course at Vogtle.

What do you love about your job? My favorite role is decision making for work priority. I maintain my team’s focus on what our daily priorities are while keeping sight of our strategic efforts to proactively improve the plant.

Hometown: Lares, Puerto Rico.

First job (not your first job at SNC): My first job was in an environmental laboratory during college.

Favorite food: My favorite food is viandas, or root vegetables. I could eat viandas every day.

What is your favorite movie and why? “50 First Dates” because it shows how sometimes life doesn’t go as expected and that we need to be thankful for what we do have. No matter the situation, a positive attitude will always improve the circumstances.

What are your hobbies? My favorite is traveling. I love to explore new places, learn about local cultures and try different foods.

What interests you about nuclear energy? The entire process is so complex and interesting that I am still learning something new each day. I am proud to be a nuclear professional, because nuclear energy is reliable, efficient and one of the most eco-friendly methods of power production.
