Plant Farley takes precautionary measure to reduce power in preparation for Hurricane Michael

In preparation for Hurricane Michael’s landfall, Plant Farley employees are reducing power for units 1 and 2.

“This is a precautionary safety measure to prepare for potential weather-related conditions,” said Site Vice President Dennis Madison. “These proactive steps will allow station personnel to continue monitoring the storm’s progress and take any necessary actions.

“The safety systems at the plant are designed to withstand significant hazard events,” he continued. “The decision to reduce power in preparation for the storm is a conservative measure, as the safety of our plant, employees and neighbors remains the top priority in everything we do.”

At this time, Hurricane Michael is expected to make landfall this afternoon.
