Leslie Garrett Allen

Vice President, General Counsel & Compliance Officer

Leslie Garrett Allen serves as vice president and general counsel for Southern Nuclear. She leads the company's legal, compliance, employee concerns, and nuclear oversight organizations and also serves as Southern Nuclear's corporate secretary.

Prior to joining Southern Nuclear in 2023 as associate general counsel, Allen spent more than two decades with Balch & Bingham LLP, where she was a partner, member of the firm's Executive Committee, and a nationally recognized advisor to electric utility and nuclear industry clients. Her practice focused on nuclear energy, hydropower, environmental regulation, licensing, compliance, and complex regulatory proceedings.

Allen was a key member of the legal and regulatory team supporting the Vogtle Units 3 and 4 project, where she successfully defended against environmental contentions, managed complex investigations and led responses to Nuclear Regulatory Commission allegations and enforcement matters.

Allen earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Auburn University and a juris doctor from the University of Alabama School of Law, where she was a member of the Alabama Law Review. She has been recognized nationally for her work in nuclear regulatory law and energy matters and has been ranked by Chambers among the nation's leading nuclear regulatory attorneys.

Allen serves on the Legal Advisory Committee of Nuclear Electric Insurance Limited (NEIL), is active in Women in Nuclear, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation.
