Site Vice President, Alvin W. Vogtle Electric Generating Plant, Units 1 & 2
Drayton Pitts joined Vogtle 1&2 as site vice president in May 2020. Drayton has over 40 years of industry experience in operations and maintenance. Prior to Vogtle, he served as plant manager at Entergy’s Arkansas Nuclear One Station.
Under his leadership, the station was awarded an exemplary rating from INPO in March 2021, in recognition of the achievement of excellence in nuclear plant performance.
Drayton also led Pilgrim Station as plant manager in significantly improving performance and moved the plant from Column 4 to Column 1 in the NRC’s Reactor Oversight Process, despite plans for decommissioning. Before joining Entergy in 2017, he spent more than 35 years working in roles of increasing responsibility at NextEra and Progress Energy (Duke Energy).
Drayton earned a bachelor’s degree in nuclear science engineering from the University of Maryland and an associate degree in electronics technology from Indian River Community College. He earned his NRC senior reactor operator license from Saint Lucie Station and completed INPO’s senior nuclear plant managers course.
