Site Vice President, Alvin W. Vogtle Electric Generating Plant, Units 1 & 2 

Drayton Pitts joined Vogtle 1&2 as site vice president on May 18, 2020. Pitts has over 39 years of industry experience in operations, maintenance and instrument & controls. Prior to Vogtle, he served as general manager of plant operations at Entergy’s Arkansas Nuclear One Station. Drayton also led Pilgrim Station as general manager of operations in significantly improving performance and moved the plant from Column 4 to Column 1 in the NRC’s Reactor Oversight Process, despite plans for decommissioning. Before joining Entergy in 2017, he spent more than 35 years working in roles of increasing responsibility at NextEra and Progress Energy (Duke Energy). Drayton earned a bachelor’s degree in nuclear science engineering from the University of Maryland and an associate’s degree in electronics technology from Indian River Community College. He earned his NRC senior reactor operator license from Saint Lucie Station and completed INPO’s senior nuclear plant managers course.
